Review: Bermuda by Robert Enright

∼∼Blurb∼∼

Discover how it all began… Franklyn Jones is a devoted husband, a loving father and a middle manager working in London. His only secret is he can see ‘The Otherside’, a world that hides in the shadows of our own. After his claims of these creatures leads to the loss of his family and his commitment to a mental health facility, Franklyn’s life came to a complete stand still.

Eventually, Franklyn is recruited by the BTCO, a secret agency that monitors and maintains the truce between both worlds. Thrust into an advanced training regime based on his ‘gifts’, Franklyn soon finds himself out on his first case, investigating the disappearance of several people in Elvedon Forest in Suffolk.

Closely monitored by his trainer, Denham, Franklyn edges further into this new world, hunting a violent entity that lives within the trees, whilst also being watched by a mysterious warrior. The explosive prequel novella to DOORWAYS and THE ABSENT MAN, BERMUDA takes you back to where it all started.

Are you ready for the answers?

∼∼My Review∼∼

Bermuda takes us back to the beginning, this is our chance to learn about Franklyn ‘Bermuda’ Jones. We are taken back to Franklyn’s life before the BTCO. Bermuda allows us to understand what he went through and what has happened to make him who he is today.

Franklyn is found by the BTCO and he is showing the BTCO headquarters, where he begins his training. Whilst undergoing training a case comes in that the BTCO decide that Franklyn can handle along with Denham.

So story aside… I’d hate to post any spoilers 😉

I think that Rob has written a fantastic prequel to the other books in this series. Bermuda answers the questions that I had after reading Doorways and The Absent Man. Bermuda clarifies the part of Franklyn’s life before the BTCO as well as the beginning of his BTCO career.

Rob’s writing style grabbed my attention from the very beginning and held me captive until the very last word, and even then I still wanted more!

I felt like I was there right alongside Franklyn experiencing everything with him. His thoughts and feelings felt as though they could have been my own.

Having finished reading Bermuda I now feel as though I understand Franklyn a lot more. Franklyn has experienced so much, he has developed, learnt and grown so much since he was just Franklyn Jones, husband and father!

I like the guy and genuinely do feel for him. I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every page of Bermuda and I cannot wait to see what Rob has in store for Franklyn in the future.

Honestly, if you haven’t read Bermuda you really need to and if you haven’t read any of the other Bermuda books you really should, I don’t think you’d be disappointed.

∼∼About Robert Enright∼∼

Robert Enright was born and raised in North London and resides in Chesham, Buckinghamshire. Working as a HR System Manager by day, he spends his evenings and weekends writing (or binge watching TV with his fiance).
After signing with a publisher in 2015, Robert decided to reclaim the rights to DOORWAYS and take Bermuda Jones down the self publishing route. Despite the many hours of research and marketing, he is absolutely loving it!
